Shigeru Miyamoto Wishes Angry Birds Came Out for the DS

In a recent interview with downloadable games-centric site HookShot Inc., Nintendo's fan favorite games designer Shigeru Miyamoto has let it slip that he has nothing but respect for the hit casual game Angry Birds and its developers Rovio, despite the game being a best seller for Apple's iPad, iPod Touch, and iPhone, which are the only real threats to Nintendo's touchscreen handheld.

"There aren’t many games that I’ve played recently that have been truly convincing to me. But that said, I have very much enjoyed Angry Birds, especially the way in which it combines traditional and new game elements in exciting ways. Angry Birds is a very simple idea but it’s one of those games that I immediately appreciated when I first started playing, before wishing that I had been the one to come up with the idea first. I mean, obviously I want to be the one creating the most convincing, surprising game ideas."

Miyamoto also had some words (and praise!) regarding Angry Birds' appeal:

Official Gameplay Trailer For Pokemon Black and White 2

There's a new gameplay trailer up for Pokemon Black and White's sequel, and it comes with a lot of gameplay footage. Pokemon Black and White 2 is an odd installment in the franchise, since it is the first one to be considered a direct sequel - with the game still set in Black and White's Unova Region, just in a different time and location - added to the fact that it's going to be released for the Nintendo DS even though the 3DS is already well-entrenched in the market (perhaps Nintendo didn't want to waste the massive Nintendo DS Pokemon userbase).

Another noteworthy change in Pokemon Black and White 2, besides the time it occured and its location within Unova, is the addition of 145 new pokemons (Black and White had 155 pokemon entries in its pokedex, the sequel has 300). It also marks the return of familiar monsters from other generations, such as Riolu, Metagross, Psyduck (YEAH!), Arcanine, Tyranitar, and Lapras.
