The Wolverine to Start Filming in August

The much awaited (and much delayed) sequel to X-Men Origins seems to be showing small signs of life, as lead star Hugh Jackman has recently announced that filming for The Wolverine will start in August.

The announcement was actually just an informal tweet, as a reply to a fan who is asking for an update on the film, but it came from Jackman himself so unless Jackman is lying or pulling the fan’s leg, then the official status as per the lead star’s announcement is "starts shooting in August!!!" (actual statement. all three exclamation points were from Jackman.)

Tom Cruise to Replace Hugh Jackman in Van Helsing Reboot

Word is out that Universal will not let the epic mauling that the 2004 Van Helsing movie got from film critics prevent another go at turning the movie into a franchise, and they are currently planning on a reboot, with Tom Cruise pegged as producer and lead actor.

I'm not a fan of Tom Cruise's antics away from the camera, but it can't be denied that the guy has acting chops, and is no stranger to both horror and action films. There's also this bit about the scientologist actor being a strict and meticulous producer, so maybe this time around, Van Helsing won't be suffering from the half-baked efforts that ruined the Hugh Jackman original.
